Oh, Teresa, I could have told you that the manga would be no good, and I didn't even know it existed until I looked at the Pop Diner today. :(

To be honest, I'm kinda surprised that you remembered all that about anime and manga. "Wow, she knows what Angel Sanctuary looks like!" XD;; (Though the cover art looks more Yuu Watase to me than Yuki Kaori.)

With Sarah, maybe the mangaka means to reveal some EVEN MORE TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE than the movie that made her give up fantasy altogether; maybe she "grew" out of it. With Jareth, yipes, there's no excusing that.

Put the Return of the Labyrinth down and read, say, Fruits Basket or Hikaru no Go. Much better. :D

Really? Yuu Watase? Hmm, I can see it, but I'm still going with Yuki Kaori. :)

I couldn't help getting my hopes up - I mean, there are some fanfic writers out there who did a really good job with continuing the storyliner, so I assumed that the writer they actually hired to do it wouldn't have any problems. T_T

I wonder what kind of traumatic experience Sarah would have to have in order to be turned off to fantasy for good. Maybe Jareth busted up her wedding? XD

Instead of reading more manga, I think I'll read Chinese menus that have been badly translated into English. That is so going up here when I have the time - you're awesome. :D

Yuu Watase: the covers, for the colors. And Yuki Kaori's fetish for hair and wrinkles in clothes really don't show up in either the color or the line art in the above samples. XD

Silly Teresa, you assumed that they would hire someone COMPETENT. Also, you must remember that Japanese visual fandom (think doujinshi etc) have a different approach to continuations than Western fandom. Japanese fen (and the professinalss, it seems) care more about the visuals whereas the Western writers want to justify all their decisions. To make gross overgeneralizations. No, I haven't give this thought very much thought.

Oh jeez, that sounds essentially like half of the fanfic over at fanfiction.net; minus, of course, the main Sarah/Jareth interaction. And while that can be a nice fanfic and all, it's not what I would consider a publishable story. Actually, I can't think of any kind of decent publishable sequel.

It could be worse, though; it could be Jareth/Toby slash. NOOOOOOOOO!

I haven't read it but now that I know the characters personalities are incomparable I now do not wish to read it. The pictures you showed, I agree The cover artist should have been the only artist.
